Young MIAS Member Spotlight on Erodita Herrera!

This month, we’re excited to feature Erodita Herrera, an Associate in the Miami office of White & Case and a member of the firm’s best-in-class International Arbitration practice group. Born in New York and raised in Miami, Erodita ventured north for college and law school before returning to the Sunshine State. She is a proud graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (B.A.) and Duke University School of Law (J.D. – go Blue Devils!).

While Erodita has experience in complex commercial litigation matters, she focuses her practice on international commercial and investor-State arbitration. In this role, Erodita represents multinational clients in cross-border disputes across various industries, including the renewable energy, construction, and oil and gas infrastructure sectors. A native speaker of both Spanish and English, she has experience in collaborating with foreign counsel and analyzing foreign documents. Erodita also devotes substantial time to her firm’s recruiting efforts and forms part of her office’s associate recruiting committee.  She maintains an active pro bono practice, currently participating in animal rights litigation matter.

Prior to joining White & Case, Erodita interned for the U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Immigration Litigation – Appellate Section and represented clients in Social Security administrative appeals through the Duke Law Children's Law Clinic.  She also served on the Executive Committee of the Duke Law Moot Court Board.

Outside of work, Erodita enjoys exploring the Miami restaurant scene, road-tripping the continental U.S., and traveling abroad.

Fun facts about Erodita:

Favorite Artist:
A controversial choice according to some, my favorite artist is Bad Bunny.  Un Verano Sin Ti is my favorite album of his – so bops that remind me of Miami summers.

Favorite Restaurant in Miami:
Uchi, and Manta.

Favorite Thing About Practicing International Dispute Resolution in Miami:
That I get to leverage my multicultural background, studies, and language skills in my everyday practice.  While I was in law school, I thought that my legal practice would be limited to U.S. law and focused on domestic issues.  Starting my career in Miami changed that for me.  Miami truly is the Gateway to Latin America and thanks to that, my practice is also international, which I love.

Favorite Book(s):
And the Mountains Echoed and A Thousand Splendid Suns.  In other words, books by Khaled Hosseini.  His prose is simple, yet evocative, and I like that his stories are very human.

Erodita is just one of the many stellar practitioners in the Miami market. To learn more about our amazing community, stay tuned for future Young MIAS Member Spotlight posts!
