Young MIAS Member Spotlight: Gabriella Lanzas!
This month, we’re excited to feature Gabriella Lanzas, an attorney in the Miami office of Holland & Knight and a member of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Practice. Gabriella focuses her practice on international arbitration and complex disputes before federal and state courts. She works on matters across the major international arbitral institutions and brings a thoughtful, globally informed perspective to cross-border disputes.
Prior to joining Holland & Knight, Gabriella interned at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), where she gained valuable experience with investor–State arbitration proceedings and built an early foundation of expertise in this area of practice. She also served as a country editor for the Foreign Law Guide, broadening her engagement with comparative and international legal systems.
Gabriella earned her J.D., with a specialization in International Law, from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. While at Berkeley, she served as an Executive Editor of Ecology Law Quarterly and as a member of the Human Rights Law Clinic, where she assisted in an excessive use of force case. Gabriella holds a B.A. in Environmental Science and Sociology from Emory University.

Originally from Nicaragua, Gabriella brings a meaningful regional perspective to her international practice and to the Miami arbitration community. In addition to her growing practice, Gabriella remains actively engaged in the international arbitration community. Gabriella has been a member of Young MIAS since the outset of her practice in Miami. She currently serves as Young MIAS' Academic Liaison, helping students identify the right resources and support to launch their careers in international law. Gabriella also maintains an active pro bono practice serving Latin American clients.

Outside of work, Gabriella enjoys yoga, reading, spending time at the beach, and exploring new coffee shops—though Panther Coffee always takes first place.

Favorite Thing About Practicing International Dispute Resolution in Miami:
Miami's role as the commercial hub linking the United States and Latin America makes it the natural home for my international arbitration practice focused on Latin America. Miami’s unique position affords me the opportunity to represent clients in cross‑border disputes and investment arbitrations that grow out of the hemisphere’s dynamic commercial relationships. Beyond the regional focus, I enjoy the intellectual challenge of complex arbitrations—piecing together the facts, the governing law, testimony, and procedural strategy feels like building an intricate puzzle, which keeps the work engaging and rewarding.
Favorite Book:
The Power by Naomi Alderman and Educated by Tara Westover
