Young MIAS Member Spotlight: Jean Paul Roekaert!
This month, we’re excited to feature Jean Paul Roekaert, an attorney in the Miami office of Squire Patton Boggs and a member of the firm’s International Dispute Resolution practice. Jean Paul specializes in public international law and international arbitration, with a focus on investment treaty and commercial disputes. He has worked under various arbitral institutions and rules and has handled matters across industries such as construction, mining, and energy. His experience also includes the recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments, post-award proceedings, and advising clients on third-party funding and Section 1782 discovery applications.

Jean Paul holds a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame and an LL.M. in International Trade and Investment Law from the University of Amsterdam. He is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, Florida, and Illinois, and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

In addition to maintaining a vibrant practice, Jean Paul is actively involved in the international arbitration community. He serves as Assistant Editor for Investment Arbitration at the Kluwer Arbitration Blog and as a Regional Representative for Young ICCA, where he contributes to academic discussions and helps organize initiatives connecting young arbitration professionals worldwide. Outside of work, Jean Paul is passionate about football and a proud Liverpool FC fan.
