MIAS is proud to announce that Tina Chen is this year's recipient of the Burt Landy Best Oralist Award. Her award was presented by MIAS Chair Francisco Rodriguez to her coach, Frederick Singarajah, Barrister and Arbitrator at Gatehouse Chambers.

Tina is currently a Bar Training Course student at BPP University and a student member of the Honourable Society of Gray's Inn. Her academic path has taken her from reading law at the University of Oxford to completing a master's in political theory at the London School of Economics — a combination that speaks to both rigorous legal training and the kind of broader intellectual curiosity that distinguishes exceptional advocates.

Her commitment to international arbitration has already translated into real-world experience: Tina interned at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and represents Gray's Inn on their Vis Moot team. She is focused on pursuing a career at the Bar.

The Burt Landy Best Oralist Award recognizes the qualities that matter most in advocacy — clarity, precision, and presence under pressure. Tina exemplified all of them.

We look forward to watching her career unfold.
